The COIL projects (Collaborative Online International Learning) were started in the United States, at State University of New York: SUNY. The main goal of these COIL experiences is to connect students and faculty from different countries to exchange academic and research experiences. We define COIL-Blanquerna as a methodology to encourage online learning among participants from international communities.
The language of collaboration will depend on the schools and faculty members involved in each exchange. For example, successful COIL experiences have already been conducted at the FPCEE in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.
COIL-Blanquerna allows a first approach to the reality of other schools so that projects, publications or other outcomes can arise from these first experiences. These projects promote internationalization at home in a sustainable way, allowing students or faculty members who cannot travel to enjoy the experience of Internationalization while also developing their multilingual and intercultural skills.
COIL-Blanquerna promotes:
- Encouraging flexibility and openness to other realities
- Approaching diversity first hand with sound academic guidance
- Empowering global citizens
- Creating and expanding international networks
- Developing digital competence
- Developing creativity and teamwork skills
- Expanding and internationalizing teaching plans easily
- Promoting sustainable internationalization
COIL-Blanquerna examples:
Typically, the COIL experience begins with an exchange of class sessions prepared by the teachers involved. This first exchange can lead to other collaborations such as webinars, joint research projects between faculty or students (subjects, thesis, TFM...), class co-designs, virtual visits to schools, shared tutoring, exchanges of concrete experiences, synchronous classes and the possibility of expanding research contacts.
If you are interested in participating in a COIL-Blanquerna experience you can fill out this form.
School of Health Sciences
The Blanquerna-URL School of Health Sciences has been promoting, since its inception, the exchange of students, professors and non-teaching staff with universities and centers abroad, because, if the university is an institution that seeks knowledge, internationalization must be one of its main goals.
In terms of the students, specifically, getting to know other countries and different realities not only shapes them for their professional future but also enriches them as a person.
For this reason, the School establishes cooperation and collaboration links with foreign universities with the aim of promoting mobility in a wide range of exchange programs with other countries in Europe and Latin America.
