We spoke to the group "Journalism for Peace", from the College of Journalists
Alumna Ana Maestre (Journalism, 2011-2015), together with Sara Stigge, a UNHCR collaborator, presented the "Journalism for Peace" group of the Catalan Association of Journalists on 28 November at our School. Its goal is to raise awareness around social and military conflicts and to foster knowledge of and compliance with the profession's Code of Ethics in terms of conflict coverage.
In a talk, in the framework of the subject Genres and Written Formats, in the third year of the Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Corporate Communication, given by professor Jaume Risquete, alumna Maestre highlighted the role of journalism in preventing conflicts and in humanising the parties, although she warned of the use of "language that glorifies violence", which is also rather widespread in the media.
