Two students of the International Relations degree of Blanquerna FCRI, Aitor Serrano and Inés Gesa, attended the third meeting of the Barcelona Challengers Conference, at which the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jody Williams, spoke.
The American activist, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for her commitment to the international ban on landmines, spoke about the social changes and technological advances inherent in the development of robotic systems, specifically, the «Killer-robots», which are more dangerous than drones.
The overall topic of the conference was "Times of change – how innovations and technology influence the future of work”. The event also included the participation of economist Guy Standing, the entrepreneur Federico Pistono and Alex Bandar, director of the Columbus Idea Foundry.
The students were accompanied by professors Andrea Costafreda and Oscar Mateos.
"We have to stop teaching history based on glorious battles. And we need to begin to look at history from the point of view of conflict resolution.""We don’t only have human rights; we also have human responsibilities."
