The School plays a leading role at the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival
The Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN FILM FEST) was brought to a close last week with the Sant Jordi Awards gala, chaired by the School's Vice-Dean for Business and Sustainability, Dr. Judith Colell, with the legendary actress Susan Sarandon as guest of honor.
At the gala, Colell also presented the award for best film to "Rebel", by Adil el Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
This year, the Barcelona film festival offered a selection of films from the international panorama that are broadly related to literature or history. Following this criterion, the program of the Official Selection was dedicated, preferably, to adaptations of literary works, productions with a historical background and biographical films on prominent personalities. The School hosted one of the festival's most memorable events, a talk by film director Wim Wenders, which was chaired by the director of the Audiovisual Communication degree program, Dr. Elisabeth Cabeza. Later, Dr. Colell presented him with the honorary award.
Sessions of the new competitive short film section #NousTalents were also held during the festival. This included screenings of eighteen short films selected by six universities in Catalonia with film studies and equivalent academic training centers. Our School was one of them.
