“The reality of the Islamic State and religious minorities in the Middle East”

This Wednesday, January 28th, in the Auditorium of Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations (Valldonzella, 12), at 19:00, there will be a round table on the topic "The reality of the Islamic State and religious minorities in the Middle East”.

The session consists of two blocks:

  • The geopolitical reality of the Islamic State: Islam, the media and Islamic State.

After the screening of the documentary about the Islamic State produced by Vice News, journalist Medir Plandolit, editor in chief of Vice News Spain and former correspondent for TV3 in the Maghreb, will speak as will Mohammed Ghaidouni, president of the Union of Islamic Communities of Catalonia (UCIDECAT) and member of the Stable Religions Working Group (GTER).

  • Christian communities and the Baha'i religion in the Middle East.

This block will include the participation of Guillem Correa, GTER president and general secretary of the Evangelical Council of Catalonia; and Sergio Garcia, spokesman for the Office of Public Affairs of the Baha'i Community of Spain. Once finished, Joan Hernández, director of GTER, will read a manifesto asking for respect for the freedom of religious minorities.
