Alumnus Laia Abril wins the National Photography Award!
Laia Abril, an alumnus of the Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Corporate Communication, class of 2008, has been awarded the National Photography Award, corresponding to the year 2023, for her work On Abortion.
The award, granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, is valued at 30,000 euros.
Her artistic research work, based on her wide-ranging professional background, is structured into thematic trilogies. She addresses matters related to sexuality, the body, psychology and women's rights all with the goal of breaching social taboos about what is different and fostering empathy.
Her work has been exhibited in several international exhibitions and forms part of private and public collections such as those of the Musée de l'Elysée and the Fotomuseum Winterthur, the Regional Collection of Contemporary Art of France (FRAC) and the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC).
