2023 Masters of Communication Awards
The presentation of the 2023 Masters of Communication Awards was held on March 4, in the auditorium of the School of Communication and International Relations.
The ceremony was lead by the director of the Bachelor's Degree in Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing, Dr. Josep Maria Picola. The event, now celebrating its eighth edition, acknowledges the careers of outstanding communication professionals who have also passed on their knowledge through books, conferences or teaching. The rector of the Ramon Llull University, Dr. Josep Rom, and the member of the Advertising Guild, Jordi de Miquel, gave the opening speech.
Muntsa Dachs, who for 25 years has headed the strategy and innovation department at VMLYR, received the award in the advertising category: "Creativity, talent and ethics have no gender, origin or social class". The creative Camil Roca was entrusted with the gloss. "I feel very honored, I am very excited about this award". The sector has matured, the profession has been transformed, today the teams are more balanced and the agencies have become more professional," admitted Dachs.
Maria Lluïsa Martínez Gistau, CaixaBank head of communication and institutional relations, received the award in the public relations category. "We should look with pride upon the transformation that corporate communication is undergoing, now it's time to adapt to artificial intelligence". Dr. Joan Cuenca, professor of Public Relations of our School, was entrusted with the commentary; "Martinez Gistau is a leader in public relations, she inspires female leadership with a vocation for service, and with extraordinary generosity".
The professor and coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Corporate Communication of the School, Joan Maria Clavaguera, was awarded the journalism prize: "Good journalism will never die and we will teach it in this school". The journalist and also professor of our university, Dr. Marçal Sintes was in charge of making the speech. "I have only heard good things about Clavaguera from students and professors," said Sintes. He added that "we have to thank him for all these years of dedication to teaching and his mastery as a journalist". "Journalism is vocational, it is tenacity and needs absolute, full dedication," Clavaguera explained. "Journalism is not in crisis, in any case the business model is. Good journalism will never die and we will teach it in this School".
