Masterclass by photographer Susan Meiselas

October 4, 2017

American photographer Susan Meiselas (Baltimore, 1948) will be at the School next week to offer a masterclass in photography and journalism, in which she will explain how she challenged the genres and professional profiles of modern photography.

Meiselas, who studied art at Sarah Lawrence College and Harvard, took the leap into professional photography with her report «Carnival Strippers», which earned her access to the prestigious Magnum Photos agency. However, what made her a worldwide acclaimed photographer was her coverage of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua during the years 1978 and 1979, for which she was awarded the Robert Capa Gold Medal of the same year.

Her work has been published in media such as The New York Times, Time magazine, Geo or Paris Match, as well as various photographic collections.

The event, which has been organized with the collaboration of the US Consulate General Barcelona and the Antoni Tàpies Foundation, will be presented by the Director of the Degree in Journalism and Corporate Communication, Dr. Marçal Sintes. It will be in English and will take place in the Auditorium of the School (Valldonzella, 12), next Thursday, October 5th at 12:30am.

enlightened October 10th, Meiselas will open her exhibition "Mediations" at Antoni Tàpies Foundation.
