The culture of peace and water as a common benefit, protagonists of the Joan Gomis Memorial
At the end of September, the organizing bodies of the Joan Gomis Memorial Award, including the School, met to decide the winners of an edition where more than 50 projects with a high qualitative level were presented.
The XV edition of the Joan Gomis Memorial has given an award to the audiovisual work «Weaving threads of emotions», a documentary made by the Journalism Outside the Picture association, within the framework of an initiative promoted by the UAB School of Culture of Peace.
In the trajectory modality, the jury chose «Thirst for water, thirst for life», an initiative by Jairo Marcos and Mª Ángeles Fernández, which uses water as a cross-cutting element to address social problems motivated by this universal good.
The Memorial Joan Gomis solidarity journalism award recognizes work and career trajectories that highlight the fight against inequalities, poverty and social exclusion, and that promote justice, peace and human rights. Numerous social entities participate in its organization such as Justicia y Paz, Manos Unidas, the Colegio de Periodistas, FundiPau, Cristianisme i Justicia, Lafede.cat, El Ciervo magazine, Foc Nou magazine, the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations and the Gomis family themselves.
The delivery will be made, when the health situation allows it, at the Colegio de Periodistas, in the dual modality of face-to-face and via streaming.
