Conference of rabbi Abraham Skorka, personal friend of Pope Francis
The rabbi and personal friend of Pope Francis, Abraham Skorka, visited our School last week to deliver a lecture on interreligious dialogue and the encounters with Jorge Mario Bergoglio on which he based his book On Heaven and Earth.
«I hope the day comes when our relationship will serve to enlighten many,» he said of his friendship with the current Pope, who, he believes, has a very profound view of what dialogue means. «Trying to understand does not mean changing the identity of the other; the greatness of dialogue is when one is willing to make their human qualities shine,» he explained.
The event was organized by the Entesa Judeo-Cristiana de Catalunya and Tarbut Sefarat in collaboration with “La Caixa”, Direcció General d’Afers Religiosos, Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations and Fundació Joan Maragall.
