Suturing and acute wound closure techniques

Nursing competencies are the set of skills, attitudes and knowledge, as well as the complex processes for decision-making, that enable the professional performance to be at the level required at all times.

Therefore, we can affirm that suturing is a nursing competency, included in the "Techniques" dimension that requires us to perform the necessary skills whenever we encounter a wound or lesion requiring a simple suture involving the skin and/or subcutaneous tissue.

This course trains nursing professionals to perform different suturing techniques, plan acute wound healing and resolution, and identify possible complications.

Objectives

Identify the material needed to perform a suture correctly.

Identify the types of wounds that can be sutured.

Know how to choose the right suturing material and technique for the wound.
